Temple Construction & Consecration

Kari-neter (Chapter Temple and/or haven)**Note - there are mortal or ghoul priests**

2. Spend 10 accumulated influence actions in Occult to Bless the temple and get items for the ritual etc.
3. Spend 10 accumulated influence actions in Bureaucracy to help hide the temple.
4. Spend $2,500 into fine tuning the temple.
5. Sacrifice the total blood pool of the person creating the temple (not from the person consecrating the
temple of course.)

Khem-neter (Domain Temple)

5. Sacrifice one kindred. An NPC may not commit the diablerie it must be done by the Setite who is fulfilling the role of Neb-hemu-tep-neter. *note: No one said it was going to be easy, nor is Diablore REQUIRED. Some path interpretations say this is acceptable because you are bringing yourself closer to Set…

Hewet-neter (Continental Temple)

2. Spend 80 accumulated influence actions in Occult to Bless the temple and get items for the ritual etc.
3. Spend 80 accumulated influence actions in Bureaucracy to help hide the temple.
4. Spend $500,000 into fine tuning the temple.
5. Sacrifice five Kindred *note: see above note

         There no longer is a ritual for Anti-Astral Projection. This was desanctioned in 5.0 but…..if you wish to have something of this nature for your temple still you could apply for a magical item with RST approval that would do the same thing. Here is a good idea for the cost of the item and what it can do.

         Note that a few changes have been made. First of all, the word diablerie has been removed. We are attempting to move the idea of the Followers of Set away from diablerie for the most part. What it now says, is SACRIFICE. However, this does not mean that if Vinnie Ventrue upsets you, that you can't "remove" something he may need… Diablerie is not clan policy. We don't punish you for it, we just punish you if you get caught.

        Anyone wishing to claim a position in the Temple Hierarchy must first build an appropriate Temple for that position before claiming it. Building the Temple and consecrating it is the litmus test of the head(s) of the Clan for those who wish to rise in the ranks on the Hierarchy.

Consecration Ritual

         A small temple/haven consecration ritual isn't as intensive as a Regional temple or similar structure would be. Naturally a player(s) doesn't have to actually act out the ritual unless the person/people in question is/are MAJOR role player(s) and wants to spend a game evening doing it (and is a little touched in the head maybe), but the option is there. The main idea is that the ritual is something that takes time (minimum of two weeks) to set up and perform (One full evening). For something the size of a regional temple it might be fun to save the ritual for a Regional game and get all the Setites in the region involved. For the purpose of brevity I've used the term Hem (fem. Hemet) for Officiating (High) Priest/ess.

Elements Required:
· A bowl of Natron (easily obtainable at your local Chemist or Drug Store)
· A large bowl of pure water (Nile flood water if you can get it)
· A piece of virgin linen (Linen that has never been used for anything else)
· Ritual Robes (White starched linen kilt, shoulder-draped leopard skin; fake or real)
· A jar of virgin oil (vegetable oil will do in a pinch)
· White Sandals
· Incense (jasmine and honeysuckle)
· Incense burner
· Mask of Set (as elaborate as you can afford)
· A vial of Myrrh oil (obtainable from any occult shop)
· Assistant (A ghoul or a Hem if the Setite performing the ritual is of higher rank than Hem)
· green dye, food colouring or paint
· brush
· razor
· Figurine of a phallic Osiris (or statue depending on the size of the temple)
· Ritual knife or ritual sword (depending on the size of the Osiris figurine)
· Domain Level - One human sacrifice
· Regional Level - One Kindred sacrifice
· Continental Level - Five Kindred sacrifices

Purification;
         The assistant having been warned never to speak during the ritual (if the assistant goofs this up at any point the ritual fails), shaves all bodily hair of off the officiating Hem. The assistant then washes the Hem with the pure water (every orifice as well) and dries him/her off with the virgin linen.

         When the Hem's feet are washed, the Hem intones: "My feet are washed on a rock at the side of the lake of Sutekh".
         When the inside of the Hem's mouth is washed, the Hem intones: "The words that shall emerge from my mouth shall be pure".
         The assistant then hands the incense burner with lit incense to the Hem and then pours the virgin oil over the Hem.
         The assistant then anoints the Hem with the myrrh oil, then with the natron and dresses the Hem in the ritual robes and white sandals. Next the assistant paints the hieroglyph for Ma'at on the Hem's tongue. The Hem then intones: "I am now in the chamber of the two Ma'ats, the two truths of Macrocosmic and Microcosmic order. I am in Balance! I am a Great One! I am a seed which is born of Sutekh! I am His Servant, I am a Childer of His Servant! I have many names and many forms, and my form is in Sutekh!"

Ritual;
         The Hem faces the Altar and says: "It is to you I speak, Sutekh the turbulent, Sutekh the bringer of storms, Sutekh of the red hair and typhon's face! Hear me and pay heed, for I know your secret name!"
         The Hem then puts the Set mask on (still facing the altar) and shouts: "I am Sutekh! I am Sutekh! I am Sutekh! I am Sutekh! I am he who has divided that which was reunited! I am he who is full of vigour and great in power! Sutekh! Sutekh! Sutekh!"

         The Hem then takes the ritual knife or sword and faces the phallic Osiris figurine and says: "I am a Great One, the Childer of a Great One, I am a flame, the Childer of a flame, to whom life eternal was given after life had fled! But the phallus of this my enemy shall be cut off forever! It shall not be knit together, for I am Sutekh, the Lord of his suffering! He shall become corrupt! He shall have the worms! He shall be distended! He shall stink! He will become putrid! He will not exist, he will not be strong, his viscera will be destroyed, his eyes will rot, his ears will not hear, his tongue will not speak, his hair will be cut off! His corpse is not permanent! He will perish in this land forever, for I am Sutekh, Lord ofthe Gods! I am Sutekh, whose vengeance is just! Die the second death! Die! Die! Die!" The Hem then hacks the phallus off the Osiris figurine with the ritual weapon.

Sacrifice;

Chapter Level: The Hem/Hemet removes the Set mask and then takes the ritual knife and cuts him/herself, pouring his/her total blood pool on to the altar Saying: "Accept my gift Great Sutekh and may you be always welcome in this thy Kari-neter!"

Domain Level: the assistants bring in the human sacrifices. All Setites present, then approach the altar bringing with them one human sacrifice each and drain their victims before the PC acting as the Hem-neter/Hemet-neter of the temple. The Hem-neter says: "Accept our gift Great Sutekh and may you be always welcome in this thy Khem-neter!"

Regional Level: the assistants bring in the kindred sacrifice and the Hem-tep-neter/Hemet-tep-neter performs the sacrifice. (*note: no one said this was going to be without a hitch). All Followers present, then approach the altar and open their veins and pour one blood point each onto the altar. The Hem-tep-neter says: "Accept our gift Great Sutekh and may you be always welcome in this thy Per-neter!"

Continental Level: the assistants bring in the kindred sacrifices and the Neb-hemu-tep-neter/Nebet-hemu-tep-neter performs the sacrifice. (*note: see previous note). All Setites present, then approach the altar and open their veins and pour one blood point each onto the altar. The Neb-hemu-tep-neter/Nebet-hemu-tep-neter says: "Accept our gift Great Sutekh and may you be always welcome in this thy Hewet-neter!"

Congratulations! You're now the proud operator of a gen-u-wine Setite temple. Let's hope those regional and above types have soul mask.
