Setite Sorcery

Akhu is the name for Setite Sorcery and it differs in practice from traditional Tremere Thaumaturgy (though not in game rules). Akhu is the Egyptian word for the magic of the dead, differing from hekau, the magic used by living mortals. The Setite holy book, The Book of Going Forth By Night, is required for much of the rituals and casting. It is RST approval for any Setite to learn their first, primary path of Akhu. Traditionally, all Setite start with Corruption as their primary path, though with RST approval, they can have another path as their primary.

Both the Daitya and the Tlacique have their own versions of blood magic, though they call it under different names.

Differences between Setite Sorcery and Thaumaturgy
((Note, the information in this section comes from Blood Sacrifice.))

Blasphemy Shrines - To work Akhu magic, the Setite must have some sort of blasphemy Shrine, at which they must conduct month rituals to Set. The shrine is created by taking the grave goods of someone who has crossed into the Western lands and desecrating them. This dose not necessarily have to be an ancient mummy. What a latter day person has done to achieve immortality can be used against them as well. Such as elaborate mausoleums, endowing hospitals, libraries, charities, etc. (Note - The Opening of the Gate Ritual is an extension of this.)

Linguistics - Since language, names, and writing plays an important part in Akhu magic, the character should at least read and write hieroglyphics and speak True Ancient Egyptian.

Spending blood - Most often in Akhu rituals, the blood expenditure usually takes the form of a sacrifice to Set or another god.
