5 Tips for Playing a Setite
By
Brandon Daniels and the GSA Staff

Note: The tips are not in order of importance.

1: Tell the Truth!!
You are a Follower of Set, thusly just about everything that comes out of your mouth is a lie. At least that is the assumption that most other PCs are going to have. So surprise them! Don't lie, even if you have to say an unpleasant truth. Now of course don't go spouting off clan secrets in an attempt to remain honest. But if you tell the truth consistently, and people read your Aura and realize you're has honest has any other Kindred; they'll quit hassling you. This is especially true during the first few months of play, when they are especially wary of you. ALL Kindred lie, the key here is to make you seem has honest has Vinnie the Ventrue and Tommy the Toreador over there.

2: Lie
Yes this is in direct conflict with Tip #1. Outsiders will NEVER (at least not without High Approval) understand your love and devotion to Set. Most PCs you will meet will be on Humanity. They still think in human terms and thusly can't handle the awesome power and responsibility of serving Set. Followers are ready and willing to do all sorts of terrible things to raise their Dark God to power, and that kind of thing is simply not what you talk about at a Salon plain and simple. Do not let people understand your true motivations until it's too late for them to do anything about it.

3. Pawns are key
No one person can bring Set back on his or her own. You're going to need help. Lots of it. Be sure to create a network of pawns and associates has quickly has possible. Very little exists to stop someone from killing a Follower except a Follower's friends, so make lots of them. Get people who win all ties. Get people with influence. Get people with political connections. The more the better. You'll need that support base to succeed. IRC and the internet are the best methods of doing this.

4. Give them stuff
Everybody likes cool stuff, and everyone likes to get it cheap. So give it to them! Things people like to have: Money and Influences (mostly Influences it easy to get all the money you want at creation but Influences harder, plus you need that stuff for temple building). Toys. Use that free Underworld Influence at creation to your advantage. Guns are big, especially the Combat Shotguns. And Incendiary rounds are popular too. They also want disciplines. You can teach them Obfuscate and Presence yourself, and you can use the paws from Tip #3 to teach them others. The last one is Lores. As long has it not Setite Lore.. share the love!

5. Play by the rules
Everyone expects any given Follower of Set do be up to no good. Thusly you need to make an extra effort to keep your nose clean. Masquerade is pretty easy to keep, the big ones are Domain and Hospitality and Destruction. If you breach these, get someone with Forgetful Mind to make sure you don't remember. If you do something wrong, make yourself forget. Same goes for your pawns. If you not sure if something is Tradition breach.. ask around. There are Imperial Harpy Setites running around so they can tell you if you going to mess up.
